Professional Ethics Committee: Theodore J. Leopold
Ted Leopold, consumer justice attorney and senior partner of the law firm Leopold~Kuvin, P.A., in Palm Beach Gardens, has been re-appointed to the Professional Ethics Committee of the Florida Bar for a two-year term. The Professional Ethics Committee is charged with the duty of answering ethics inquiries from members of the Bar, as well as reviewing informal advisory opinions issued by Florida Bar ethics department attorneys.

Bar Journal Editorial Board: Diana L. Martin
Diana Martin, an attorney with the consumer justice law firm of Leopold~Kuvin, P.A. in Palm Beach Gardens, has been appointed by the Florida Bar to serve on the Florida Bar Journal/News Editorial Board for a three-year term, beginning July 1, 2009. The scope and function of The Florida Bar Journal/News Editorial Board is to advise and assist the editorial staff. The board works closely with the Journal and News staff to develop articles of current interest and concern to the profession and, as a reviewing board, selects for publication only the most worthy manuscripts.

Mr. Kuvin is a partner for the consumer justice law firm of Leopold~Kuvin, P.A. in Palm Beach Gardens. Mr. Kuvin lectures regularly for the Palm Beach County Justice Association as well as the Florida Justice Association, the National Business Institute and the American Association for Justice. He is a member of the Florida Bar, the United States District Court for the Southern, Middle and Northern District as well as the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. His two-year term begins in June of this year.

AAJ provides lawyers with the information and professional assistance needed to serve clients successfully and protect the democratic values inherent in the civil justice system.

Families First of Palm Beach County is a private non-profit agency which provides family-centered independent service coordination to families who are identified as “at risk” because of the following characteristics: medical complex needs, substance abuse, homeless or on the verge of homelessness, HIV, poor parenting skills, limited coping skills, abuse and/or neglect issues, domestic violence.

THE NATIONAL CRIME VICTIMS BAR ASSOCIATION

NCVBA provide technical support to attorneys representing crime victims in civil suits, referring crime victims to lawyers in their local area, and increasing general awareness about the availability of civil remedies for victims of crime.

The Bar's mission is to foster professionalism, serve its members and enhance public access to the legal system through education and service. The Bar Association performs hundreds of direct and indirect services for the community including: educational clinics including Law Week, Fee Arbitration and Client Relations Committees, lawyer referral and information services (Legal Aid Society), and a speakers' bureau. The Young Lawyers sections also participates in Career Day, Adopt-a-School projects, Youth Court and Holidays-in-January benefiting local children.

Public Justice (TLPJ) is a national public interest law firm dedicated to using Trial Lawyers' skills and resources to create a more just society. TLPJ fights for justice through precedent-setting and socially significant individual and class action litigation designed to enhance consumer and victims' rights, environmental protection and safety, civil rights and civil liberties, workers' rights, America's civil justice system, and the protection of the poor and powerless. Public Justice has special litigation projects that secure access to justice by battling unnecessary secrecy in the courts, mandatory arbitration abuse, federal preemption of injury victims' claims, and class action abuse.
