Cuff Bindings are strips of soft leather or suede sewn onto the cuffs of a garment to protect it from wear. Cuff bindings are also used to repair worn cuffs and collars on jackets, blazers and overcoats. They are also great for protecting and repairing the cuffs of trousers and jeans and excellent for waxed cotton jacket repairs. They can even be used as a patch for long rips and barbed wire tears.
When I was a lad, the cuffs of my jeans were bound with soft leather to stop them fraying. I clearly remember the new cuff bindings being buttery soft with a fabulous smell. When I got big enough to wear a school blazer and later a jacket, their cuffs were also bound with leather to make them last longer. I tried unsuccessfully to find cuff bindings a few years back and eventually decided to make them myself. I choose lovely soft leather and each binding has pre-punched holes to make stitching easy.
My cuff bindings and elbow patches are made from gorgeous soft leather; ready to sew onto your clothing to protect and repair.
Large Patches: 6.5" x 4.5" (16cms x 11cms)
Medium Patches: 5.5" x 4" (14cms x 10.5cms)
Small Patches: 4.75" x 3.25" (12.5cms x 8.5cms)
Narrow Cuff Bindings: 22" x 1.25" (56cms x 3cms)
Wide Cuff Bindings: 22" x 2" (56cms x 5cms)
A very cool hand-wash will keep them nice for years. Do not dry on a radiator or direct heat source. It makes leather crispy and nasty and we don't want that!
Just so you know: I'm happy to cut suede bindings to match my suede elbow patches - I can sometimes cut longer lengths if required but please drop me an email and check that the suede is in stock. Be aware that suede cuff bindings tend to 'polish' over time and go shiny - it may be best to use leather from the outset.
NOTE: Waxed cotton jackets are best repaired with an 'oily' finish leather. Please ask if you want oily bindings or elbow patches as they are always made to order. Just make a note in the text box as you come to pay. Available in dark brown and mid brown only.
